APIBank of England base rate
A lightweight live base rate API and embeddable chart we built for clients who need current BoE policy in their products.
About this tool
Several of our clients needed a reliable live Bank of England base rate for mortgages, savings products, and financial modelling. The BoE publishes official history and announcements, but not a lightweight API you can call from an app or website.
We built a system that does. A simple REST endpoint returns the current rate, effective date, and full change history. Clients integrate it in minutes rather than maintaining their own scrapers or spreadsheet imports.
Alongside the API, we shipped an embeddable chart: current rate up front, a time-series view with hover tooltips, and range filters across 3, 5, 10, or 25 years, or the full series back to 1975. It slots into client sites and dashboards without custom front-end work.
The feed updates automatically whenever the BoE announces a change. Global clients now rely on it in production for public-facing calculations, including banks we work with. The demo above uses the same official BoE dataset the live API serves.
